SolarAPP+ (New beginning September 2023)

Beginning Late September, 2023, the building division will roll out a pilot program in conjunction with SolarAPP+ to allow contractors installing roof mount solar permits on residential homes the ability to pull permits immediately through our website. 

SolarAPP+ Automated Solar Plan Reviews

Before applying for an automated solar plan review and solar permit, projects must follow certain requirements. At this time, SolarAPP+ is designed to provide a code-compliance check for the majority of residential, roof-mounted, retrofit photovoltaic systems. To see which systems are eligible, please refer to the . Only projects that conform to these lists are eligible to use the automated SolarAPP+ portal for instant permitting.

 

  1. How to Start using SolarApp+
  2. Submit for automated review through SolarAPP+
    • To start using SolarAPP+, log in and submit your design through the SolarAPP+ Webpage.
    • A processing fee from SolarAPP+ and City of West Sacramento permit fees will be charged.
  3. Apply for Permit through City of West Sacramento
    • Visit Citizen Access
    • Click login or register to get started.
    • Accept the terms of service, and select "residential general"
    • Click continue and follow the prompts.
      • you will need your solar app approval number, approval document, and spec sheets to upload during this process.
    • Follow the prompts to make payment and accept the conditions of the permit. 
    • Once complete, you will be provided your permit number and immediately be able to download your job card. 
    • Download the Job Card and have your SolarAPP+ Inspection Checklist onsite for inspections. 
  4. Schedule an Inspection:
    • Inspections are available during normal City business hours and can be requested for morning (typically 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) or afternoon (typically 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
    • Please have the City of West Sacramento permit number (example 23-XX-XXXE), type of inspection requested, address, site contact name and contact phone number.  
    • Option 1: Email inspection requests to bldginsp@theabsolutelongestwebdomainnameinthewholegoddamnfuckinguniverse.com.  Emailed requests can be requested up to 4:30 p.m. the business day prior to your requested day.  
    • Option 2: Call in for inspections at (916) 617-4691, by 4:30 p.m. the business day before you would like your inspection.  Inspection requests are left via voicemail.
    • Confirmation of being on the inspection schedule can be given on the day of your requested inspections by calling (916)-617-4645 opt. 1 between 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 
      • You can also confirm online through our ACA page and see the results of any prior inspections or any scheduled inspections on your permits.
